ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Billy Hurley was comfortably in his element as he rode around the U.S. Naval Academy’s century-old golf course where he once excelled for the Midshipmen and still frequented to practice and play. As the noisy gas cart negotiated the rolling tree-lined fairways, he stopped to visit with each of the 18 groups, shake hands and thank every golfer for participating, then pose for a team photo.

The Billy Hurley III & the Brave Golf Tournament, held on July 31, was destined to be different when he and business manager Jana Smoley of Sunrise Sports Consulting seriously began contemplating an event that would address his and Heather’s commitment to help active duty families.

Billy Hurley III is known in golf circles for his dedication to giving back to the military, but this may be his biggest charitable undertaking yet.

Presenting sponsor Leidos, a defense and cybersecurity company and one of the event’s 24 corporate sponsors, presented the Anchor Scholarship Foundation with a $60,000 donation to endow a new, recurring scholarship. It is Hurley’s first time working with Anchor.

ANNAPOLIS –Billy Hurley checked off all the boxes when he decided to hold a charity golf tournament.
Several causes that are near and dear to his heart will be addressed as part of the inaugural Billy Hurley III and The Brave Golf Tournament, being held next week in his hometown of Annapolis.
Hurley and wife Heather believe strongly in supporting active duty service members and that is the main thrust of this event, which takes place Monday and Tuesday at the Naval Academy Golf Course.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) – A couple sailors from Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi are going to a golf tournament hosted by PGA Tour Champion Billy Hurley this weekend.
Hurley, a Navy veteran himself, is holding the inaugural tournament to honor 18 active servicemen while also benefitting several scholarship funds.
Last week, Matthew Hart and Ryan Neuenforff entered a raffle drawing and learned they will not only be meeting Hurley, but competing against each other.
